Rangers Loan Report: McKay & McAusland relegated to subs

Barrie McKay

Barrie McKay, Morton – after missing last week’s match with an ankle injury, McKay began the game with Hamilton Academical on the subs bench.   He did enter the match in the 67th minute but it wasn’t enough to spur Morton onto victory as they lost 4-3.  It was a surprisingly competitive match given the 39 point difference in the standings between the two Championship clubs.  McKay has struggled of late for Morton as it appears that the loan has not worked out as well as anyone has hoped.

Kyle McAusland, Ayr United – after missing the last match due to suspension, the young defender was relegated to the subs bench.  Ayr were coming off back-to-back 5-0 victories, so it is likely manager Mark Roberts did not want to mix with a winning formula too drastically.  McAusland entered the match in the 93rd minute, in a classic time consuming substitution in extra-time as Ayr held onto a 2-1 victory over Arbroath.
