Former Dundee United defender Gavin Gunning has signed with Birmingham City. The club announced that they have signed the 23 year old to a one year contract, with an option for an additional year.
It’s been an interesting stretch for Gunning, as he was on the verge of signing with Sheffield Wednesday a week ago. Liam Kennedy of The Evening Telegraph reported that Gunning’s pending deal with the Owls was set to triple his current salary & that, “the offer from Wednesday was so impressive that Rangers were unable to match the finances on the table in South Yorkshire.”
However, Gunning failed his medical examination & the offer from Wednesday was yanked from the table. Some thought that this was Rangers opportunity to pounce.
Many speculated that Ally McCoist was ready to make another offer to Gunning – even after yesterday’s signing of Darren McGregor.
- Do you think McCoist is done shopping for depth at center back – given that Gunning is off the market, coupled with the signing of McGregor?
