It was a historic showing from Algeria as they became the first African nation to score four goals in a World Cup match – setting up for a potential rematch with the United States in round two where former Rangers teammates Madjid Bougherra & DaMarcus Beasley would face off for a chance at infamy.

Here are Bougherra’s player ratings from various sources:

Marc Williams, The Independent

5 -Caught out for South Korea’s first goal, and was lucky to only see yellow for a poor challenge.

6 – Recovered to make a couple of good challenges & interceptions deep in his own penalty area.

Chris Deely, FTB Pro

5 – His big frame should’ve done better with the long ball that led to Korea’s first.

Nick Ackerman, Bleacher Report

7 – A solid first half. Made one vital tackle on Son, limiting the deadly forward’s time on the ball.  Began to struggle during the second half, Wook’s appearance added a slight sense of panic.

Son Heung-Min & Madjid Bougherra

Joe McPhee, Sports Mole

6 – Sold a dummy by Son for the first South Korean goal, the captain seemed to tire as the game went on.  Rightly booked for a poor tackle.

Arandeep Dhillon, The Sport Review

5 – At fault for South Korea’s opener but the former Rangers man more than played his part, including a key block to deny Son.

Bougherra played 89 minutes in the victory – he was booked with a yellow card on the only foul he committed in the match.
