Luca Gasparotto named best player in Milk Cup U20 tournament

Despite Canada losing the deciding match of the four day Milk Cup youth tournament, Rangers defender Luca Gasparotto was named Player of the Tournament.  Canada lost the final match of the tournament to Northern Ireland 1-0 after drawing China 1-1 & defeating the now infamous Mexico side 2-0.

The tournament has been met with some confusion back in Canada & gained worldwide attention for the wrong reasons after a brawl broke out between Mexico & Northern Ireland.

Either way, it is a nice accomplishment for 19-year old Gasparotto who showed so much promise back in the 2012-13 season but failed to make a first team appearance last season.  He did feature regularly for Rangers U20 side & made three appearances for Stirling Albion on a month long loan spell.

Despite the lack of first team action, he is expected to be a prominent player in Benito Floro’s Canadian national team picture going forward.

  1. great news for Luca.

he needs a chance this year.

I remember watching Charlie Miller win it about 20 years ago.

I’m from N ireland but I couldn’t find much reports on the Rangers this year. they did beat Liverpool 3 0 but also got beat by them 0 1.
