Luca Gasparotto has been named the captain of Canada’s U20 team on the eve of its opening match of the CONCACAF U20 Championship tournament.  The Canucks will take on Haiti on Saturday & are grouped with Mexico, Honduras, Cuba, & El Salvador.  The top four teams in the two week competition will qualify for the U20 World Cup in New Zealand.

Rob Gale, Canada’s head coach, explained – via The Daily Courier – “Luca’s an excellent example to the boys on & off the field.”

“He’s a great teammate & leader.”

Fraser Aird was on the list of players that Gale wanted to bring to Jamaica for the tournament but Rangers management denied the request.
