Luca Gasparotto, Airdrie Canada U20s
Gasparotto captained Canada to a tournament opening victory over Haiti. The Canadians won 3-1 on the back of two goals from Toronto FC’s Jordan Hamilton.
Mitchell Tierney, of Walking the Read, wrote – “Luca Gasperotto continues to look well above his age class in terms of talent and has certainly earned the captain’s armband that he wears.” The Rangers center back was announced as the captain on the eve of the tournament. Canada will take on Mexico on Monday.
Sam Adekugbe, who trained with Rangers back in November, also featured for Canada & earned an assist on one of the goals. Adebkugbe plays for the Vancouver Whitecaps.
You can see Gasparotto featured a few times in the highlights below.
Barrie McKay, Raith Rovers
The match against Queen of the South was called off due to pitch conditions.
Danny Stoney, Stranraer
Entered the match with Forfar Athletic as a 91st minute sub. Normally innocuous news. Ten seconds after his entry – Stranraer scored & then scored again a minute later. Believe it or not – Stranraer won 4-2…must have been the luck of Stoney.
No word if he actually had anything to do with the goals.
It is a disgrace that Fraser Aird was not released to play for his country in the Under 20’s World Cup. We must be in a bad way if we are depending on Fraser to rescue our season
