Luca Gasparotto, Airdrie & Canada U20s

It was a heartbreaking loss for Canada as they conceded the winning goal to El Salvador in extra time & fell 3-2.  Gasparotto captained the side that now sits fourth in their group – a point behind Honduras.  They have two matches remaining & need to pass Honduras in the group table in order to have a chance to qualify for the 2015 U20 World Cup.  On Monday, Canada plays Cuba & then finish up on Thursday in a monumental game with Honduras.  Gasparotto has played every minute of the tournament so far.

Barrie McKay, Raith Rovers

Entered the match in the 88nd minute in Raith’s 2-1 victory over Dumbarton.  McKay has been battling sickness all week & that is why he was left out of the starting eleven.

Danny Stoney, Stranraer

Came on as a sub in the 78th minute in a 2-0 loss to Brechin City.

Other news…

A favorite in the Rangers Loan ReportKyle McAusland, made his debut for Dunfermline Athletic  in their 2-2 draw with Airdrie.  McAusland started & played the entire match in the midfield.  McAusland featured in Brechin City’s midfield & is being tabbed to do the same for Dunfermline.

Earlier this week, McAusland discussed the transition to his new team with the club’s official website.  “I felt that Dunfermline was the best option for me.”

“There was the appeal of full time football at a big big club like Dunfermline. I hopefully will play my part.”

“I was playing right back but since I broke into the first team at Rangers the coaches saw me playing a holding midfield role.”

“It was for different reasons, some said I had the legs for it. It suits my game where you are on the ball, passing, moving and hopefully scoring a few goals while defending as well.”

“I played in that position at Brechin and did well. I am pretty open to playing in a number of positions.”

“At Ayr I played right back and centre half, even when I first started in football I used to play striker. I am really comfortable in midfield now.”
