Former Rangers youngster signs with Partick Thistle

Defender Ryan Finnie was ‘happy’ to leave Rangers back in December & used the power of the ‘favorite’ button on Twitter to reaffirm sentiments that as a young player he was better off leaving Ibrox.

The 19-year old right back has now signed with Partick Thistle until the end of the season & is expected to add depth to their backline.

Finnie has represented Scotland at various youth levels & was a regular for Hamilton Academical back in 2012-13.  Finnie never made it into the Rangers first team in his short stint with the club.

Finnie told The Daily Record – “Being a young player I couldn’t see any way to break into the team at Rangers with them not doing so well as they should have been. So I’ve come here hoping to get an opportunity to prove myself.

  1. Looks like a constant flow of players out of Ibrox, why was Finnie not kept and MOSHNI, let leave as that would have made sense on the field and wages terms. Seems no one cares any more.

  2. Its common knowledge for years at Murray Park that these youngsters will probably never get a chance in the first team. this could come back to haunt Rangers for years to come as young talent will avoid Rangers at all costs and there are some decent young players out there at the moment.

My biggest concern is that players have left Rangers and made names for themselves elsewhere. a radical overhaul of the MP youth system and player recruitment has been in need of work for some time. were a club so far behind others its embarrasing

  3. What an overreaction to a non story .This boy wasn`t even good enough to get picked for the U20s (not by McCoist , by Durie) and was nowhere near the first team .He was released by Hamilton and was given a short contract by Rangers to prove his worth.and it didn`t work out .He may do well at Thistle but he may not .For someone to blame Walter Smith for this is bizarre and can`t think of too many players who have been allowed to leave Rangers and made it big elsewhere .I remember a couple of years ago a big story about McGeouch leaving to join the great unwashed , he was to be a superstar …where is he now , failed loan to Coventry and now on loan at Hibs.Potential is nothing unless it is realised.
